Welcome to STMA (Shaolin Tigers Martial Arts) Academy Reading, Scours Lane Branch which is owned/run by (ex.World Champion Kickboxer)/ 4^th Dan Black Belt Instructor Dan Eden.

Shaolin Tigers is a long-standing Martial Arts club originally founded by Chief Instructor Frank Bowen-Aquilina. Our brand new totally refurbished STMA Academy Reading branch is one of the largest Martial Arts Academies in the UK. it is over 3,000 square ft with an upstairs area which houses Berkshire’s only MMA cage. It also has a downstairs area with a reception/large ring/matted area including specialist training equipment and multiple punch bags. Shaolin Tigers Martial Arts have been established since 1984 and have trained multiple world champions over five decades.

Shaolin Tigers Martial Arts Club is a fun, friendly and safe environment to train various martial arts from Muay Thai/K1 Kickboxing, MMA and Boxing. Whether your goal is to learn self-defence techniques, improve cardio/fitness, enhance your kickboxing or boxing skills or you simply want to relive some stress, we can help.

We help the community with both junior & adult martial arts and boxing classes on every day of the week. Shaolin Tigers help keep kids off the street and boost self-defence/self-awareness & self-confidence as well as both Mental/Physical issues.

I’ve been training with Shaolin Tigers on and off for the last 10 years but more seriously for the last 5 years. It’s an excellent club for all ages and genders. Fun and engaging lessons with a good mix of bag work, pad work, drills, exercises, and sparring for the more advanced classes. STMA offers competitive rates and deals on equipment. All the instructors are highly knowledgeable in their fields and provide excellent professional guidance, support, and technical advice. I would highly recommend this club to anyone who wants to learn a skill, get fit, fight in tournaments, go through a grading system, or just have a bit of fun. You won’t be disappointed. By far the best facility around in the area, especially with the cage.

I have been training with STMA for over 10 years, I cannot thank the club enough for the training and guidance provided over the years. Everybody is always welcomed into the club regardless of level or experience and always encouraged to reach their full potential. I now have a family and my eldest son is a member training twice a week…his overall technique, concentration and respect has been improving week by week with the correct teaching in place. I would highly recommend STMA training to improve your own goals (even if it’s for your own fitness) as there are programs / classes in place for all levels of ability, but especially for your children…you will see for yourself the improvement from day 1!!!

Wow what a fresh and friendly new club, very professional, fab communication and amazing with children. There are multiple classes on during the week which allows flexibility around our own busy Schedule. Currently my two boys attend junior classes but have seen many young laddies in the classes too showing just as much enthusiasm, my boys absolutely love it, they are on the go from the moment the walk in, it’s fun and energetic, incorporating skill and discipline all at once. Can’t wait to give it a go myself. Would highly recommend for children and adults alike!

Shaolin Tigers Academy at Reading is the best gym in Berkshire I have trained in. The facilities there are amazing and especially when the new cage is installed in December. I have been with Shaolin Tigers for around 25 years and loved every session with them as all the instructors and students are amazing. So I really do recommend going here.

This is my first time learning a new skill and these guys have been amazing, very patient and helpful, they get the best out of you every session and im learning something new each time , there facilities are amazing with various bags and equipment they also have a boxing ring and an up and coming mma cage, there membership and single session prices are really good too, i highly reccomend.
